چکیده

In this paper we describe a method to estimate the overflow probability at an arbitrary queue in a network. This work is motivated by the assumption that most network routers will have the capacity to multiplex a moderate to large number of network flows. We first provide our main results on the workload of a queue fed with a large number of traffic flows in a network. Under fairly general conditions, our results say that the workload at the network point at which a large number of traffic flows are multiplexed decreases to zero, almost surely. What the result also says is that the overflow probability at a downstream node can be estimated (within an error term) by only measuring the traffic at the edge of the network. We find an upper bound on this error term that decreases exponentially in the number of sources multiplexed. We provide numerical examples to illustrate the efficacy of our results under different network and traffic configurations.

Improving the QoS in Intelligent Connected EVSE by Using RPL

Nowadays, a great portion of researches research and industrial innovation is about the electric vehicles (EV) and also EV Supply Equipment (EVSE) that play an important role in this context. EVSE requires standardization via effective communication protocols. In this paper, we propose to customize the existing Internet standard Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) to facilit...

Real-Time Traffic-Differentiated QoS Routing for Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) emerge as underlying infrastructures for new classes of large scale networked embedded systems. However, WSNs system designers must fulfill the QualityofService (QoS) requirements imposed by the applications (and users). Very harsh and dynamic physical environments and extremely limited resources are major obstacles for satisfying QoS metrics such as reliability,...

The Collaboration Surfaces project

Distributed Multimedia Plays (DMP) Collaboration surfaces are essential parts of the DMP three-layer systems architecture. DMP provides near-natural virtual networked auto-stereoscopic continuous (multi-) view video and multichannel sound collaboration between users (and users and servers) [RON07a]. The end-to-end maximum time delay is guaranteed (< 10-30 ms) by allowing the quality of audio-vi...

Spatial modelling of railway noise propagation

In recent decades, population growth and progress of technology have shaped large and compact urban settlements. Existence of huge transportation systems and developed urban infrastructures are among the most important properties of modern cities. In spite of prompt transit and facilitated daily activities, development of transportation systems causes many problems, including traffic, air and n...

A networked control system as a case study for model checking of probabilistic hybrid systems ∗

In this benchmark description, we present a networked control system as an example for the quantitative analysis of probabilistic hybrid systems. Though the scenario of this case study is of academic nature, it is representative for a number of real-world industrial applications comprising the interplay of controlled continuous processes with feedback control mediated by a communication network...
